Hi,guys. This is Niu Lai (牛来) with English subtitles.
It is also worth noting that the film’s cover bears the line:“A cow can rehearse its life—in dreams…”
My English is pretty poor, and even with AI translation tools, it took me several hours to finish the subtitles. If you’re interested in Niu Lai too, I hope you enjoy it.
As for this screen-recorded bootleg(search on the Internet), I agree that piracy is not a good thing. But it seems a shame for something this good to be limited to Chinese-speaking audiences alone. People elsewhere probably—perhaps, possibly—want to see it too. So I spent a few hours painstakingly translating the subtitles and decided to share them.
As for what this is trying to express, I found a tongue-in-cheek comment from the Chinese online community:
“It expresses the creator’s longing for home.”

Lol, in the same way we think of stereotypical 1940s radio broadcast voice, there was also a distinct pattern to the way people spoke in the 80s. You can hear it on the earliest LPC calls too.
@crnqm Listen, I’m no defender of Stalin but I do know this: Of Marxist writers, Mao (and Lenin) are the only ones whose ideas have translated into actual revolutionary action. Mao made many mistakes but revolutions are messy, by nature.
