Great achievement by the initiative of Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, the two founders and the entire team at Skyroot Aerospace. This became possible because the government decided to "allow" private players into space technology. They also decided to let private companies use the public sector ISRO infrastructure for testing and launching.

These two founders actually quit ISRO in 2018 because private rocket development was not allowed or funded at that time. Their decision to leave and start their own company was itself a strong act of individual initiative.

If these two founders could not have done this privately, they would probably have stayed inside ISRO. There they would have been stuck in internal corporate and government politics and friction it creates. They might have lost all motivation to do anything meaningful. In the end, they could have ended up as just another nobody under the heavy hand of some power-hungry operator inside ISRO. I have to add that such politics and friction also happen in big private companies. But in large government organisations it is usually worse, because politicians get involved to control things but have no skin in the game.

First, what this shows is that India has immense talent which is hidden and withering away or migrating abroad for more freedom to experiment, tinker, innovate and build.

I will not praise any government for “allowing” private players. The word “allowing” means they hold coercive power. By definition, that should be seen as immoral. This is especially true against the backdrop of Indian civilizational values, whose modern equivalent in the political and economic sphere is libertarianism or even anarcho-capitalism.

This is a wake-up call to the government. Just step out of the way. Give the power back to the people. Let the people decide what the government should be allowed to do. That is the most moral thing to do if the politicians truly care about India, its people, and its true culture based on our civilizational values. My India. My country. My people.

The Indian politicians and the government from all political parties have this patronizing and condescending attitude towards the people of India. They see the builders, the creators, the hard-working producers as people who need guidance. They think they have to sit on top, manage, control and guide people to live their lives the “right way”.

Builders and producers do not need government guidance, government help or government approval to do their thing. Everything happens because of individual creativity, curiosity, drive, innovation and the instinctive urge to create, produce and build. It does not come from government power or government policy.

Politicians know that government creates friction. Moral and good people often cannot navigate that friction. Only a manipulative few have the ability to navigate government friction. That is why we have brain drain. People who cannot navigate the government friction simply escape the system and migrate abroad or just get demotivated to do anything.

Skyroot’s achievement should be a wake-up call for politicians to step out of the way and do the right thing for India and its people. Our freedom has been crushed for a long time. Now is the time for people to enjoy true freedom, true liberty and true opportunity. To live as they please. To produce as they please. And to make this country great and glorious again.

Government should minimise itself to just defence, judiciary and law and order. Anything else the government does creates friction. Its role should be made as tiny as possible.

To enter startup city,
- you first need to do KYC: submit entry form, self-attested physical copies of PAN, GST, Aadhaar, Incorporation certificate in triplicate. Because what if people scam
- you need to submit in person at a desk in startup city, because what if people scam online. If any mistake in form or missing document, come back next day
- After 2 weeks, your application is processed. You get startup city id. You get entry. Because exclusivity.

To get business loan in startup city,
- You apply with startup city id: fill online form, do KYC again with literally same documents. Because bank knows no other process
- But you are eligible for lower cost loan only if business registered address is same state as startup city. Otherwise change registered address to same city and apply again. Because they want to promote state

To get tax rebate in startup city,
- Your startup city id is not enough. You need a special registration tax id. Because tax dept. wants to have more control
- For special registration tax id, do KYC with literally same documents again. Just one additional document required - last 3 years statements. Before tax dept. wants…wait for it…more control
- But you are a startup with only 2 years existence, so you need to email special circumstance request to tax dept. But you don’t hear back from them for 2 months. Because they did create dedicated team for this

To reach startup city,
- you have to travel 47 km outside the current metro city located in middle of nowhere. Because the politicians and bureaucrats involved could find land only there to buy before news of startup city was announced
- you have to travel through 5 interconnecting roads, two of them one-laned and filled with potholes, pass through the main market of three villages and a major sabzi mandi in rush hour. Because easy connectivity wasn’t built because two municipalities couldn’t coordinate and align mutually.

With Kimi K3, a Chinese lab has put into the open a genuinely frontier-class model, one that beats GPT 5.5 and Opus 4.8 on a range of coding and agentic benchmarks and sits within striking distance of Fable 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol, the strongest systems American labs have publicly released. The American labs almost certainly hold stronger models in reserve, whether for compute, cost, or regulatory reasons, but the point stands: openly available Chinese models have never been this close to the frontier.

Which opens up a possibility worth taking seriously: China is a real contender to win the race to AGI, and perhaps to superintelligence itself. What happens if the unipolar power of the next era is the Han imperium under the CPC? What happens when the neighbour we share disputed borders and a long list of political tussles with acquires a technological and economic edge so decisive that even the US and the West cannot be counted on to balance it?
