then, she clears her throat, reaching into her purse. “here,” she pulls out a fifty-dollar bill, sliding it across the table. “just as promised.”
the witch tracks the other woman’s hands as they effortlessly handle the cards with a grace that she could probably never achieve- even if she attempted to learn divination herself.
she visibly flinches at the sight of the devil card- her stomach twisting as unwanted
Madi’s eyes soften a fraction, her lips pressing together to hide a sympathetic frown as she shuffles the cards.
“hopefully that’s in the past,” she murmurs as she sets the deck down.
