This sort of garbage is completely worthless. You don't get people to have a meaningful conversation, which is what a retro actually is, with gimmicks and games. It is both patronizing and insulting to treat adults as children, who don't yet have the cognitive ability to focus, so must use a game as a scaffold. If you want a good retro, set up a culture of psychological safety and stick your neck out with upper management to assure that problems outside of the team get fixed.

Useful postmortems usually pay little attention to "a bug at line N" (local problem cause), and instead ask "why so much disruption all at once" (blast radius), "what safety mechanisms failed" (quality gates), "was detection and remediation adequate" (operations playbook).

<rant> People see MVP and think it's a Product. People see TDD and think it's about testing. They're wrong. It's unfortunate that the people who come up with these great ideas are not better at naming them. Ofc, one of the problems is that people have strong opinions (about MVPs, TDD, &c.) without having ever read the original books (Ries's "Lean Startup" and Beck's "TDD by Example"). They just make up something that the imagine is correct based on the (not very good) name. </rant>
