Crucial to note the SLC outlet could not attribute the headline describing this civic action as a 'strike.' Those federal employees involved are contractually prohibited from such action, as alluded to in USPS remarks. https://t.co/Pmrtqwt8U7
@anthro_andrew I did think for a second you might think I was saying you were the misanthrope. Probably should have said for clarity 'when one is the misanthrope.'
@mrsviv08 @mcdadstuff Our greyhound would -maybe- lift his head off the couch when complete strangers came through the front door, even the mail carrier or the UPS guy was nbd.
there's a kid annoying his exhausted mother in the row next to me on a small plane right now so I asked him, "Have you ever thought about how weird it is that sounds existed for billions of years before ears evolved to hear them?" and now he's looking quietly out the window.
@MgivenUp @coffeecatharine For a while for me it was idioms. I discovered Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable in college. This was a healthy distraction from critical theory.
@coffeecatharine 💯 music theory but also the little known music program developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, Mario Montessori and their cadre, especially Silvana Montanaro.
@coffeecatharine Could be your handle but first thing to mind is coffee. I have so many thoughts about coffee - fascinated by everything about it and so fortunate to live in a time when coffee culture is what it is.
@jduffyrice @jessinhtx@offbeatorbit From literal day one I was doing the most ADHD things with it and could not stop. I have the most vivid memory of flipping it like a coin while walking the streets of Montreal on our honeymoon. Spinning it on tables at dinner.
@jduffyrice @jessinhtx@offbeatorbit My ADHD and other sensory issues are exactly why I could not stop myself from taking it off and playing with it. It's currently long term lost somewhere in my house. Wearing a comfy silicone one atm.
@offbeatorbit Same with watches - even tho I prefer to have a watch handy often I can't bear wearing one. When I was newly married I worked in a sector (surprisingly) dominated by socially conservative women a few of whom let me know they were taken aback that I would go without it.
