The prevalence of anti-science sentiment in public discourse is sad. Humanity wins when we celebrate great scientific & engineering innovation.
Not blindly, of course. Scientists, like all humans, can be corrupted by money, power, fame. But most are amazing humans.
Yesterday we saw some of the worst humanity has to offer.
Civilians, including children, executed in cold blood.
Women abducted and raped.
The maimed body of a young girl being paraded around like a trophy by terrorists.
And in amongst it all, there was a small number who wanted to tell us why this was OK.
It’s not OK. It will never be OK.
Killing children is not an act of war. It is an act of terror.
Raping captured females is not an act of war. It is an act of terror.
There is no justification for that behaviour.
If you believe this behaviour is justifiable or something to be celebrated, please fuck off.
Then keep fucking off, after that fuck off a little more, then a little bit more. Then sit down and take a little break. Then stand up and fuck off some more and then just when you think you are done fucking off, pull your socks up and fuck off some more.
Justifying brutality against civilians is some V*tnik level shit and has no place here.
Humanity's lackadaisical response to the superintelligence threat makes me feel I'm in the movie "Don't Look Up". I just explained why here: https://t.co/9rQ1NmpY7s
BREAKING: Police have arrested two students and a lockdown remains in place while a SWAT team clears Highland Park High School after a student brought a gun to school. https://t.co/N88bzg8v9n
I had a few things to say about the latest mass shooting. You can tell me to get back in my lane. I don't care. We are failing to protect our children, and we are accepting that life includes the constant risk of sudden death in a hail of bullets. https://t.co/bLGKoOpeBB
