I love being a PhD student.
it feels like I’m expected to be miserable or overwhelmed.
but as a first-gen student, I’ve had to overcome a lot worse to get here.
to read and write and learn for a living feels like a gift that I hope I never take for granted, inshallah 🙏🏽
The paradox of feelings after a conference:
-intellectually energized, but mentally exhausted
-socially fulfilled, but needing 24hrs alone to recover
-sleep-deprived, but buzzing with too many ideas to sleep
-excited to work on research, but too jet-lagged to start
Graduate school is hard but there’s so many things I have learned within my first year… and I am blessed and grateful to be here. Speaking to the students about my experience made me value myself more as an academic scholar. I am valuable. I am smart. I am capable.
At the Summer Research Opportunity Program @UICGradCollege retreat thinking woah I was just a student in this program 4 years ago!! Mentoring is SO rewarding. Love my students!! ❤️ #SROP#UIC
I really want to implement healthy habits to start writing more consistency… what are some tips that have helped you all write? And/or things you would’ve known sooner.
I want to share this stray cat that has been coming to my house for 2 weeks straight. In this picture she was hurting because a male cat was trying to attack her. It breaks my heart I can’t take her in but I keep food and water for her daily. 🥺❤️
