Jallianwala Bagh stands as one of history’s greatest massacres. It was carried out by a colonial regime. But the question that haunts me after watching Jaswant Singh Khalra is different:

What is more painful than oppression by an outsider? When those entrusted to protect their own people are accused of becoming the source of their greatest fear.
A police officer’s duty is to protect innocent lives—not to abuse power. Khalra’s courage exposed evidence of alleged illegal disappearances and secret cremations, reminding us that the abuse of state power can leave wounds that last for generations.
Punjab’s mothers are still waiting for answers. Many families are still waiting for justice. Truth cannot remain buried forever.

On September 6th, we honour the sacrifice of Shaheed Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra and his pursuit to truth and seva.

This video tells the story of two opposing figures in one of Punjab’s darkest chapter: K.P.S. Gill, the state’s powerful, controversial police chief, and Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra, the human rights defender who exposed the murders of 25,000 Sikhs orchestrated by the Indian government.

In 1995, Khalra’s fearless pursuit of truth led to his abduction and disappearance - an atrocity that exposed the brutality of state repression. Through archival footage, we revisit a battle between fear and courage, silence and truth, oppression and justice.

Bhai Khalra talked about being a single candle which would fight the darkness. With his inspiration, countless more candles have been lit and will continue to burn until the darkness is finally dispelled.

बेहद दुखद, निंदनीय, शर्मनाक समाचार : उप्र के हमीरपुर में पुलिस ने मिलते-जुलते नाम के चक्कर में बेकसूर को दी ‘थर्ड डिग्री’ प्रताड़ना।

उप्र की जनता थाने के सभी दोषियों को नौकरी से बर्ख़ास्त करने की माँग कर रही है। शायद कल ही मुख्यमंत्री जी ने कहा था कि प्रशासन को संवेदनशील होना चाहिए, लगता है पुलिस मुख्यालय ने इसे सुना नहीं या वो मुख्यमंत्री जी की सुनते नहीं हैं। अपनी चमचमाती छविवाले मुख्यमंत्री जी का बस चलता तो इस बात पर गृहमंत्री को ही बर्ख़ास्त कर देते लेकिन मजबूरी ये है कि उस पद पर भी वो ख़ुद ही बैठे हैं। इसलिए हम इस मामले में, उनसे किसी भी कार्रवाई की उम्मीद नहीं रखते हैं। मुख्यमंत्री जी के अंदर अगर कहीं अंश मात्र भी मानवता या किसी के दर्द के लिए संवेदना या भावना है तो अपने विवेक से कार्रवाई करके दिखाएं।
