****Timberwolves Franchise History****
playoff series wins without Rudy Gobert: 2
playoff series wins with Rudy Gobert: 5
Franchise Changer. Winner. First Ballot Hall of Famer.
Rudy Gobert is my all time favorite Jazz player. He was incredible in this series against the Nuggets and has been so much fun to watch. I love that he’s finally getting the credit/love/respect he deserves for how he impacts winning and how valuable he is. Go get that ring!
SEC created such a fun system. 8 game conference. No 10 P5 requirement. If you lose early it doesn’t count but if you lose bowl games it doesn’t count either so the only games we are allowed to evaluate you on are games against the SEC which is a “guantlet” because trust me.
So far this bowl season BYU’s 7th best win beat Notre Dame’s 2nd best win and BYU’s 4th best win beat Notre Dame’s best win
Can someone explain to me why Notre Dame was ranked ahead of BYU again?
It’s reactions like this that has allowed bowl games to become meaningless (in addition to the playoff). If fans and the media held teams accountable and didn’t give excuses for teams with holdouts, maybe we could get back to a place where bowl games mean something.
So many idiotic takes flying around CFB twitter right now based on results from broken versions of teams playing bowl games.
The problem is that CFB casuals love easy takes based on wins and losses, and aren't going to spare a solitary second trying to understand the context of a game.
LSU had about 8 draft picks not play in their bowl, including most of their defense that was the core of their team. I took the time to break down who was out:
- #1 and #3 tacklers at DL
- #2, #3, and #4 tacklers at LB
- #1 and #3 tacklers at DB
- Only 2 of 7 leading tacklers played in total
- LSU's 3rd leading tackler vs Houston (ILB Singleton) had 6 tackles on the season going into the game.
Any narrative based on non-playoff bowl games with opt-outs, as it relates to that year's version of teams, is just stupid.
Using the above to somehow say the SEC is "mid" because an unranked, broken version of SEC #10 lost by 3 to ranked B12 #4 is plain idiotic.
Is there any concern this will make the student section less impactful? I know they added more seats in the end zone but I think there was a distinct advantage in having half of the ROC on the east side.
Congrats to all the teams who made the @CFBPlayoff. Many talented, deserved programs.
Worth asking the question…
Was the core mission & purpose of the committee to ensure the BEST teams are included upheld?
Getting blown out in the Conference Championship matters for a Big 12 team like BYU, but doesn’t matter for an SEC like Alabama who had more losses and a bad loss to a 5-7 team? Unbelievable SEC bias.
Objectively, how do you defend this:
Miami (10–2)
– ESPN SOS: 45
– ESPN SOR: 14
– Did not play for a conference championship
– Losses: Two 8–4 teams (SMU, Louisville)
BYU (11–2)
– ESPN SOS: 22
– ESPN SOR: 9
– Played in the Big 12 championship
– Losses: No. 4 Texas Tech on the road & in the Big 12 title game
Notre Dame (10–2)
– ESPN SOS: 44
– ESPN SOR: 13
– Did not play for a conference championship
– Losses: Miami (who lost to two 8–4 teams) & No. 7 Texas A&M
My biggest beef with the playoff and BYU is that they weren't even a part of the discussion...AGAIN. The last two years, their resume absolutely deserved inclusion in every debate about the last spot. It was a united effort by ESPN, etc, to push them out of the discussion.
BYU has more wins than Miami.
BYU has a better strength of schedule than Miami.
BYU has a better strength of record than Miami.
BYU lost to #4 Tech twice, Miami lost to unranked SMU and Louisville.
I literally can’t find any logical reason why Miami is going to the CFP.
