@hissingchoir I feel like I’m losing my damn mind watching these grown adults argue about liking what band made you a real “hipster.” If you were ever referring to yourself by a made up media label you were probably deeply self absorbed. And I say that as someone who loved arcade fire 😂
@hissingchoir Listen I saw the lumineers play a dive bar in Boise Idaho on a Tuesday night a couple of years before they got famous and drank some beers with them after their mostly empty set. They were pretty chill, average college musician types that got offered a bag and took it.
@Caol_MacCormaic There is no such thing as 2011 hipster culture tho. The lumineers were a “hipster” band in the sense that the band members themselves were hipsters back when that was a thing you could be. If you were referring to yourself as a hipster in 2011 what you actually were was a poser.
@bookappreciator@offbeatorbit@ech_liz I think one thing that gets people confused in retrospect is that hipster itself is a term coined by media and marketing companies to sell the aesthetic that they were copying. The young, artistic people whose style they were stealing did not refer to themselves as hipsters.
@offbeatorbit@ech_liz Depends on where you lived. First type is Brooklyn Oakland hipster. Second type is Austin Portland Denver hipster. (Btw lumineers were a real Denver hipster band that had been gigging for a while before they blew up with ho hey)
@kiittwy If you’re talking about LPL or LCK then they gotta be like top 5 in the world otherwise they’re probably not even one of the best in their own league. From any other region I think the criteria is being able to play with those guys on an even footing.
@NerdInked@Halo1v9 Hull breaker isn’t as bad as those other two it’s just situational now. It’s still very strong on some champs and against some champs but CC and WE should literally never be built by anyone ever.
@androoki This is either garbage or secretly op and I don’t know which lmao. It reminds me of back in the day in Overwatch when ppl just stopped playing dmg dealers and played tanks and healers only bc they realized it made them unkillable.
@DJZ3@CoreyWriting I’m talking about the contents of the film? The central theme of which is Oppenheimer’s horror at what he has created and allowing his life to fall to pieces around him afterwards bc he felt he deserved some kind of karmic punishment. There’s really no other reading of the film.
@DJZ3@CoreyWriting Wait, did you watch the movie and not realize it was about the fearsome, nihilistic implications of creating the bomb? Do you not know what the Oppenheimer face meme means? Where have you been the last 3 years?
@Jtaylor0_3 Endings are especially hard for TV shows compared to novels since they’re written completely differently. If you think about it books are always consumed once the whole story has been finished whereas TV shows get made based off the strength of their openings alone.
@Jtaylor0_3 It’s more bc endings are the hardest part to write well. Early on you can always expand to add complexity, which at least approximates good writing. At the end you have to bring it all back together intelligently to show the things you did served a cohesive narrative purpose.
@KaraboNtshweng You’re probably right for most people but the exceptions are people who live in big cities (like NY, LA big.) If you go to a state school you have like 20,000 people similar to you in your immediate area, which is huge. But if you live in NYC that number is more like 200,000 😂
@ParacelsusII The thing people are talking about is that google ad money is what keeps the majority of websites afloat and without that revenue the sites themselves will literally die and not exist anymore.
@Molson_Hart@MariosGeorgakis@KirkegaardEmil I don’t think the nba is a good example for this phenomenon bc in real life this does not bear out at all. Most of the best nba players all time were actually tall for their given positions. Jokic has won 3 of the last 5 nba mvp’s and he’s 6’ 11”
@MariosGeorgakis I’m not familiar enough with this topic to say if your larger point is correct or not, but two of your examples here are demonstrably false.
@agraybee I dunno my wife will spend 10 hours straight on a Saturday playing overwatch and yelling obscenities at strangers. Maybe the people with these complaints are losers who don’t know how to find people with similar interests to them.
