We recently had the pleasure of meeting with CSA astronaut @Astro_Kutryk ๐ The team spent the afternoon discussing the path to becoming an astronaut and the impact NewSpace ventures have on innovation!

Happy #CoralsWeek! ๐ชธ
Coral reefs provide habitat for more than 1 million species of plants and animals and data from the #Landsat series of satellites has allowed scientists to map and monitor these ecosystems on a global scale.
Lidar and radar are not so different... Check out this straight forward explanation of radar, SAR, lidar, InSAR by Dr. Scott Hensley and Dr. Robert Treuhaft from 2011 (part of @NASA#Carbon Cycle and Ecosystems Workshop) @NASAJPL@Caltech

This one was a blast (pun intended ๐) to record. Tune in to hear about Scottโs #newspace journey and how the intricacies of #earthobservation can help our planet.

@SFU What do you love to do outside of work โ Outside of work I love to push myself on snowboarding runs and try out a few jumps on Grouse Mountain (even if I end up falling more than I do landing).
@SFU What part of your role has been most exciting โ I am very excited to learn more about satellite technology and explore the technical and logistical thinking required to design a system for space.
@SFU ... Back then, I found myself more interested in these purely scientific disciplines, but as I entered university, I found appreciation in the craftsmanship and design of the systems that made the science and innovation possible.
@SFU What first inspired you โ I originally fell in love with various STEM-related topics as a child and was intrigued by the science taking place in space.
I am excited to share a potential game-changer in food security. We were able to predict every food security crisis w/in the record 3-6 months before occurrence & its magnitude using tipping point theory + @NASASMAP soil moisture.
