3. Send invoices, track bills, close the month. Your reports stay current, so you always know where you stand.
Still building. Coming soon for U.S. small businesses: https://t.co/P5lgxPFYnU
@arvidkahl For small business owners, the quickest win this week: turn on two-factor for the bank, payroll and accounting logins first. Those are the accounts where a reused password costs real money.
@angempressdoe Plenty of people are trying. The hard part usually isn't the features, it's letting a small business bring years of history over cleanly so their accountant still trusts the numbers. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
@dills311@QuickBooks@IntuitCares@GreenDotBank Glad it's finally sorted, and good on Michelle for digging in. Worth jotting down her name and what fixed it, just in case it ever comes back.
@TedLangleyCPA@CrownCPA Cash-basis returns on top of accrual books trip up a lot of new clients. A one-page reconciliation from book income to tax income, with the AR change on its own line, usually makes the conversation with the other CPA much shorter.
@StaghornFerns@QuickBooks Before the next renewal, it's worth listing what you actually use each month. If it's mostly invoices, expenses and a bank feed, that short list makes it much easier to judge whether any plan is worth it. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
That's a brutal amount to have held. Two things that usually move these along: one written timeline with every date, amount and reference number, and a formal written request asking for the specific reason for the hold and a release date. Keep your bank's trace records with it. Hope it's released soon.
@genemarks@Paychex@GenThreatLabs One of the simplest protections for a small business: never change a vendor's bank details based on an email alone. Call them back on a number you already have. That one habit stops a lot of payment fraud before it starts.
@SMBPC@Intuit Twenty minutes arguing with a bot is rough. If you need a person, asking for a scheduled callback usually gets further than staying in chat, and writing the case number down saves you from re-explaining next time.
@plconsultingllc@QuickBooks@Intuit For desktop clients facing that renewal, it's worth mapping each one's real needs (payroll, inventory, multi-user) before the deadline. Some only use a fraction of what they're paying for. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
If you go the build-it-yourself route, get the chart of accounts and a monthly close checklist right first. Pulling the data out is the easy half; keeping it consistent enough for your CPA every year is the hard half. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
There are open-source double-entry tools out there. Before picking one, check three things: bank import, a clean CSV export, and whether your CPA will accept its reports at tax time. That last one is usually the sticking point. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
@noah_vandal@QuickBooks Fields not saving is the sneaky kind of problem because you only find out at reconciliation. Until it's fixed, a quick look at the audit log after a big entry session catches anything that didn't stick. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
@Shaddockmma@QuickBooks Before converting, make a full backup and save a trial balance and AR/AP aging as of your last close as PDFs. After the switch, run the same reports and compare. If they match, you're done. If not, you know exactly where to look.
@leayardum@QuickBooks Hours on hold is a tough way to run a business. Two things that usually help: ask for a case number and a callback window in writing, and keep a recent export of your key reports so a support issue never stops you from invoicing or paying people.
25+ years of history is exactly why access matters. Once you're back in, export the GL, trial balance, customer and vendor lists and open invoices right away so a support issue can't lock you out again. If you do move, a year-end cutover keeps it clean. We're building SpaceBooks for U.S. small businesses, coming soon.
