@edzitron So I guess GitHub copilot set the precedent with this, and now all the providers are going to change their usage structures in a way that makes using these frontier models insanely expensive across the board?
@TheLouieCo@edzitron Fair point. I think the concept of a newer flagship model delivering better results peaked at opus 4.6, perhaps gpt5.5. Since then the supposed upgrades have fallen flat. For me it's less about power than a general vibe from a model, and its ability to understand nuances
@TheLouieCo@edzitron This is true, but then you're limited to the open source models which, whilst great, still lack the power of the big flagship models from OpenAI and anthropic. So there are more trade offs than just the cost. Maybe the answer is a mix of the two, and to have a multi model setup
@memoirofmen@gabydvj I find this helps with going to the gym. If I tell myself that I can just go, walk in, decide fuck it can't be arsed and walk out, that's fine. Better than nothing. And then I ended up being there for two hours
@RewindONUK Should've put a show where a middle aged semi famous bloke goes on a steam train to the highlands, y'know something fresh and original. Maybe he can learn to make his own tartan or something
@dresserman That old timey cartoon noodle-arm whistling and mid step style of illustration needs to die a death, I can't believe it's still popular after possibly 8 years now.
my childhood nickname was “christine the bean” until 2001 when my older brother and sister began a competition to see which of them could think of a new nickname that made me cry the most. this resulted in them calling me “osama bin laden” for the next three years
@thetrainline some of the most obnoxious UX possible. Just default to single adult. I understand (but hate) the booking dot com integration, but needing to set a passenger is just pointlessly irritating, especially when in a rush.
@LukeParkerDev Gemini is too badly behaved to be trustable. It'll happily create random files in the root of your working dir without asking, then you say no, don't do that, and it apologies and rm's your entire filesystem
