So very proud of my dear friend & partner Rev. Jim Keenan @sparkleindark for being awarded the Charles 111 Coronation Medal for his outstanding efforts to fight food insecurity from @MarciIen@OOTC_StLukesTO@AlexaNGilmour
BREAKING: In a shocking leak, JD Vance calls women who cannot biologically have children miserable people. Retweet to make sure every American sees this and knows how vile Vance is.
The Out of the Cold Meal Program at Saint Luke's was featured on @CBCToronto for delivering our 80,000th meal. But the fight against #foodinsecurity in #Toronto is ongoing. We are calling for donations and volunteers. @RafiInterfaith https://t.co/alxK3pkBvP
.@MayorOliviaChow served eviction notices to those living @ Trinity Square by the Homeless Memorial. We don't need any more names added 2 the Memorial. Encampment clearings increase deaths. @MayorOliviaChow STOP CLEARINGS & SAVE LIVES. @mohamadfakih8🙏 for showing yr support 1/
We’re beyond thrilled to start r new partnership w/ @tngcommunityTO that brings peer supports to the Out of the Cold Meal Program @saintlukes_uc. What a great start served over 240 hot meals. R to L Marcus, Ilya, Florencia, @sparkleindark & @RafiInterfaith. Much 🙏to @BillTNGCS
I'm at city hall. the council chamber has been cleared twice for people disruptions, but this time many haven't left, and neither have most media. here a sample of what people are saying:
@ZoeDodd I agree. What is frustrating is public outrage comes from a public who thought he was a nice guy in short pants. He isn't and is responsible for much suffering and death
The Out of the Cold Meal Program @saintlukes_uc has been getting ready to serve 350 hot meals this evening. Open from 5 pm to 7 pm for indoor dinning, washrooms, clothing, harm reduction supplies & big smiles. We’ll be doing r regular outreach to those sleeping outside
So this means Toronto could be prepping to open warming centres tonight. At minimum open by 11 am Wednesday. Will they or won’t they? @SHJNetwork@StoneSoupNet https://t.co/KUBku5Q1jI
I'm missing my opportunity to depute at the Budget Committee because I'm in the ER with a client who was assaulted overnight while sleeping outdoors. Budget cuts to drop-ins mean people are harmed, and I have to be present for them instead of speaking on reversing these cuts.
Warming centers should be made available throughout the winter to keep those who need them safe. Toronto’s official trigger to open them, when it’s -15C, seems arbitrary. One can develop hypothermia when the temperature’s over freezing. Let’s deal with reality and change this.
Is there any word on this? I don't believe any hot meals were served at any of these warming centres all weekend. stluke'sootc offered hots meals to the folks at Metro Hall but were told they were not needed.
exhausted.
having to fight so hard for the most basic community supports - like WARM SPACES - in the midst of death, misinfo death, people in crises, systems that are violent and oppressive…
it surely doesn’t have to be this way.
