Tom Barrack is a Christian of Syrian background.

What he did was not merely a political maneuver, and it was not just a betrayal of the Kurds.
He betrayed his own history, the memory of his ancestors, and the moral inheritance of the region he comes from. By aligning himself with policies that empowered or enabled Daesh / ISIS, he sold that legacy to an ideology that has slaughtered Christians, Yazidis, Kurds, and countless others.

This is not abstract politics. This is history written in blood.
My own Yazidi great-grandfather took in and raised Christian orphaned children after the Armenian genocide — at a time when survival itself was uncertain. That was solidarity. That was honor. That was humanity across faiths, in the face of annihilation.
To stand today on the side of those who represent the same genocidal logic, even indirectly, is not pragmatism. It is moral collapse.

How dishonorable can a person be?
How does someone who knows this history — who carries this background — believe he can one day stand before God and justify such choices?

Some betray nations.
Others betray principles.
But betraying the suffering, courage, and mercy of one’s own ancestors is the deepest betrayal of all.

Days ago, reports emerged that prisons holding ISIS detainees were opened. Three days ago, rumors spread that ISIS had retaken Raqqa.

A black ISIS flag flying again in Syria signals the deliberate reactivation of a force that was supposedly defeated. Anyone who remembers 2014 understands what this means: mass violence, terror governance, and the shredding of what remains of the Syrian state.

The timing matters a lot. Syria is under intense pressure the re-emergence of ISIS accelerates partition.

USA uses many methods to of war, not only bombs, but deliberately releasing chaos back into the system.

What’s unfolding now is terrifying, and it should alarm anyone who remembers how ISIS was used before.
