@gervaisclips Whether history is propaganda, pseudo-science, or rediscoverable misses the point. Ricky’s argument assumes truth requires exact reproduction. By that standard, partial or approximate recovery wouldn’t count—yet that’s how most knowledge, including much of science, actually works
@gervaisclips@TopHatorTrilby Thanks for the preemptive block. His comparison only applies to repeatable scientific models. History wouldn’t come back if all records were lost, yet we don’t conclude history is therefore not believable. Different categories have different criteria for “proof.”
@cub527@hailmarysportss Doesn’t matter if the helmet hit or not. He clearly lead with the shoulder and wasn’t using his helmet as a weapon. Inadvertent contact, no foul.
@AVGirl4Life AI clues - curve of the pool edge, no water laps up over the edge ever, at the end her head is screwed on backwards before flipping back for a split second, she never touches the bottom of the pool (world’s deepest pool?) and she has AI written on her shirt.
@wizecrax@OleTimeHardball Awards are based on contribution, not talent. WAR attempts to capture both offensive and defensive contributions. Not saying it’s perfect, just takes more into account than the easily visible aspects of the sport.
@Coachhedge@Ben_Yoel@MLB Nah, that’s why there’s a 5 year waiting period. Gotta let their impact on the game really settle in. Kershaw won’t be eligible til the ‘31 ballot. Molina, Pujols, Cabrera, Greinke, Posey are just a few that have already retired and will be there not to mention guys still playing
@GorgesSteven@Coachhedge@Ben_Yoel@MLB Lowered and altered are not the same. MLB doesn’t value wins as much as other metrics because they are dependent on the offensive play of the team you’re on. Ohtani is unique now, but there’s little preventing people from doing the same in the future. So different not lowered.
@BenVerlander I see now the video says 100 ABs - so what’s the incentive to not walk them? Is it just that it won’t count as an AB if they get to 4 balls before a strikeout?
@BenVerlander Lots of unknowns to be able to make that claim - who is considered the average fan? Who is the MLB pitcher? Is the pitcher an average MLB pitcher? What constitutes a hit? Are we doing a live game with 9 guys in the field and they gotta run to 1st? How many ABs or pitches?
@BraddrofliT This is the problem. Billionaires have the ability to either get income in the form of capital gains, or to keep from ever realizing income in any given year which keeps them from paying large portions of their wealth in income taxes. Perhaps we should have a separate wealth tax?
Last time the #Astros signed an international 3rd baseman, it worked out pretty well. Crane should at least try to be competitive with Munetaka Murakami.
