The Parliamentarian wouldn’t have removed insulin PRICE caps (rather than copay caps) from reconciliation but y’all aren’t ready for that conversation.
The failure to save American diabetics from price-gouged insulin is on BOTH US political parties bc theyre both owned by PhRMA
House Democrats passed a bill to cap insulin COPAYS for the insured only, leaving the uninsured to pay $300+ per vial of insulin to survive. The bill has gone nowhere.
Then, the Democrats REMOVED insulin from Medicare negotiations, ensuring its price will remain unaffordable.
SCOOP—Russian attacks cut off access to the main warehouse for Novo Nordisk drugs in Ukraine, a source says. All of NN’s insulin in 🇺🇦 is stored there. Unless warehouse access restored, pharmacies only have a couple days of #insulin left. ➡️This is also a crime against humanity.
100 years ago, the first ever insulin injection was given to Leonard Thompson, a 14 year old boy, at Toronto Hospital. He was diagnosed with diabetes three years before, and was now very sick. He weighed just 69 pounds, and was drifting in and out of diabetic coma. 1/8
If you facilitate more rapid spread of a variant it will increase the proportion of individuals infected in a population
The more individuals infected, the more "superevolvers" will be infected
They are the people that foster rapid evolution of cov2
The kind that's made variants
With the news of the increased risk of Type 1 Diabetes being shared, I wanted to post the warning signs:
◦Excessive thirst
◦Sudden weight loss
◦Frequent urination
◦Overwhelming fatigue
I also want to point out that Type 1 Diabetes can be diagnosed at ANY age.
@Chr92 @ElShellTrashbag @amyklobuchar@Jandelliott 3/3 don’t presume that people don’t do everything they can to live, especially in the face of dying horribly in 24hrs And just for edification look up Dead in Bed syndrome as well as the DCCT to know what complications and choices you suggest. List price needs capped.
@Chr92 @ElShellTrashbag @amyklobuchar@Jandelliott My sil, Meaghan, used that insulin for the last five days of her life. She died Xmas 2018. She was a nurse. Had T1 for 18 years. Lost her job and insurance (was able to get short term employment but no insurance) for six months. You could say she was a “hustler”. 1/3
@Chr92 @ElShellTrashbag @amyklobuchar@Jandelliott 2/3 But it didn’t matter. She couldn’t pay to see her doc to help. She couldn’t buy her prescribed (not preferrered) insulin at $300/vial. (Which would get her a week of life). She was allergic to novolog but would use it or any insulin she could get when in dire need.
Today is my youngest son’s 8th diaversary. At diagnosis we almost lost him. He’s had T1 1/2 his life. In 10yrs he’ll be 26yo, he’ll age off my insurance if I’m lucky to still be working. His Aunt Meaghan only lived 18yrs w/T1. Today is chock full of feelings.
I had just gone to my lunch break at work and this is how I found out about Meaghan. We thought she died the day after Christmas not on especially since it was her fave (besides her birthday). Her brother had to tell his parents. He sat w/the roommate. I finished my shift.
The coroner said Meaghan passed around 1pm on Christmas. Her roommate was at work. She left when Meaghan was resting on the couch. When she returned that night she thought M was still resting it wasn’t until the next morning she found Meaghan in the same position that she knew
