@Channel4News the body worn camera is clearer in the dark than human eyesight and the judge said in their round up that the dark shirt made it hard to see any blood. Dealing with lying criminals who claim they’re hurt when they’re not has probably desensitised the officer.
@Channel4News is just a tabloid. They couldn’t play the full body-worn video footage without muting parts and cutting it after an inflammatory part without showing the cuffs on for less than a minute and the attempts to save him.
The Judge's sentencing remarks re the Henry Nowak tragedy are a real eye-opener and clear up many of the issues that are being debated at present.

I’m still exhausted from a 12 hour shift on Friday that dragged into the early hours.
Physically having to stay to complete the admin after an arrest because I’m not in the next day & remembering every policy or form I last dealt with years ago was horrid at 3am.
@Miles_PBH The regulars don’t won’t appreciate how few practical skills are covered during the initial training. No radio use, very little more than an introduction to the systems or their mobile device that is an everyday tool and if the reg has admin to do they won’t leave the station
I’ve discovered a whole new issue now that the number of specials has dropped.
In the past an IP special would be available to take them on the tour of the station & their 1st few shifts. Now we don’t have anyone available during the week to do this.
#NationalVolunteersWeek so if you see one of these rare and endangered diamonds of society next week, make sure you show some appreciation.
A pat on the head goes a long way.
Todays lesson - When attending and RTC if you haven’t been involved in EVERY part of the scene don’t get mugged into recording it on the system. It’s amazing the details and procedures full time officers don’t record or follow.
Why don’t the @PFEW_HQ post about their work for Specials?
Are they looking to increase the allowances in each area as the MET have?
I understand it took another force to change the Employee supported policing policy so we can claim duty allowance and mileage.
I’m not saying there’s a skills drain in the police due to a lack of experience but I was the ONLY person on the shift able to drive the caged van today…
I’m sick of managers who just copy and paste a work policy (both in my day job and as a special) like I can’t read.
If I’m asking for clarification I clearly need more than the vague policy or worse, they paste half of the policy neglecting the important parts…
I have 2 career specials with 15 years in who’d be fantastic if they had a standard driving permit but the current format just doesn’t work with the majority of volunteers.
