Personally I would suggest if you're THAT opposed to playing origins then start with Dragon Age Two. It's the shortest, it eases you into the lore the best, and sets up inquisition in a way that you won't be blindsided by lore when you enter Haven

But play Dragon Age Origins

I hope I'm not popular enough for this to blow up but I just saw someone say they're glad they started w dai instead of dao and my hot take is that you get a bad impression of the world starting with dai and it can hella cloud ur understanding of the series as a whole
