I am the founder of a UK primary school spelling app. I have repeatedly failed my own spelling challenge.
Can you spell as well as a 10-year-old?

@MathsGCSETutor@Samstricko181@AdrianBethune YESSSSS Hard agree. And the spellings bit only stays worthwhile if it's little-and-often — 5 mins, not a Sunday-night cram. The second it turns into a formal slog it defeats the whole point.
@shmug83 Find the one tricky bit in each — usually it's just one! — drill that, and do 5 mins a night rather than a big cram. Trying to memorise the whole word is the bit that makes everyone cry 😄
Wild stat in here: the words that decide marks at the hardest end of the SATs spelling test aren't obscure Y5/6 vocab. They're Y3/4 rules kids 'did' two years ago. A retention problem, not a coverage one. Also impressive word prediction from Mystic @_MissieBee
I one-upped myself from two years ago and managed to predict two spellings this year 🤓 (some might say more luck than judgement…)
More thoughts and analysis on the SATs grammar paper here (I could hear @MichaelRosenYes in my ear a lot for this one):
