I found 5 barriers that can stall even the smartest professionals.
Ignoring just ONE caps your results in the other four.
Which are barriers or assets for you in 2026?
1. Personality
2. Mindset

In reality, there is likely is no final destination in the AI race. AI will continue evolving, improving, and spreading across industries. A better way to frame it may be as a threshold, plateau, or strategic breakpoint.
The key moment is not βthe race is over.β It is the point where AI becomes capable of materially accelerating the development of the next generation of AI systems. In other words, the race does not end. It changes character.
Before that threshold, progress is still heavily human-led: researchers, engineers, chips, data centers, capital, energy, and infrastructure.
After that threshold, the leading system may begin improving the improvement process itself. That could create a compounding advantage that is very hard for others to close.
So, no, I do not think there is a clean finish line like a race tape. It is more like reaching a higher plateau, or passing through a strategic gateway, where the rules of competition change.
This post on Self-Awareness started some interesting conversations, online and off. AI is capturing a lot of the conversation mindshare these days. But this issue can also "move the needle" for you.
If you haven't read it, you should. It's a great self assessment. If you did read it (3 months ago), time for a Pillar 5 accountability experience. Did you act on it? Re-read it and see if you made any progress or gained any valuable insights. If you know someone that could benefit from it, share this post with them.
As I asked in the first post, "What don't you know about you that could change everything in 2026?" There's still time to take action.
Comments and questions welcome.

FYI - Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, called Anthropicβs Claude Mythos a fear-based marketing campaign to justify keeping advanced AI restricted. Per Sam, yet OpenAI has now released ChatGPT 5.5, which performs basically the same advanced tasks more openly and without the hype.
β WHICH NUMBER IS YOURS? Drop the number (1-5) in the reply that you suspect is your current bottleneck. Iβll reply with one specific "shift" to help you turn that barrier into an asset for 2026.
P.S. I am currently booking this "Barriers vs. Assets" framework as a Keynote for 2026 corporate kick-offs. If your leadership team needs to see the full roadmap, DM or email me.
