Today is a sad day. My owner is leaving the country for a while. I’m going to stay in my little home but in the garage, with the lid open, where I’m free to move out if I want. I may not see my owner again. He’s a little embarrassed at being emotional over an arachnid. It’s OK 🙂

@Philmachinist @TheWavesBroke @KyivIndependent It’s a very interesting backstory and yes I did binge some Wikipedia pages 😂 it has German/Russian and other ethnic heritages and the land was “given” to the Soviets after the armistice. Now I’m back reading about it - thanks 😂

@Mallus_Malleus @KyivPost Yeah - the murky area of exonyms and transliteration. Mandarin Chinese maps each sound of the town name to a sound in their set, for instance. Original tweet absolutely spot for English at least (I don’t believe we have any exonyms for Ukrainian towns, just verbatim).

@MarkHertling There are more important things. This is mostly directed at those who criticise non-English speakers having the courtesy to speak English and then get criticised for a wrong spelling. What a time to pick on this issue! We are speaking a lingua franca of peace as well.
