It’s not a poor choice, it’s just everyone bases their opinions on what they see/hear online and by word of mouth and when the narrative is that Mcveigh is no good that’s what gets run with and you feel underwhelmed.

If you actually look at what he’s done, it’s a fine selection.

[Brayden May @braydenjmay]

@ScooterMcNeice Put the want for Hird aside, how can anyone say it’s a poor choice without knowing McVeigh’s work up close? He’s worked in two programs that have been to the pointy end of the season and helped develop some great talents. We should be backing whoever it is.

@blknoiz06 This is so $BONER coded

@supercontraa 🤣🤣🤣

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

Take that Dons.

[Callum Twomey @CalTwomey]

Geelong has put forward its future first-round pick for Jordan Ridley. At this stage the Bombers are looking for more if they're to trade the defender.

Standards, regardless of experience.

Mr Longmire will have an immediate impact.

[AFL Trade Radio @traderadio]

"It didn't leak out. Not one journo got wind of this. The club let this out before anyone. I think this is a fantastic appointment, he is going to come in and drive standards for that club. Well done to Essendon for this."

- Kane on the appointment of John Longmire at Essendon

[Essendon FC @essendonfc]

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of John Longmire to the newly created position of General Manager of Performance 🤝

Where are the Andrew Welsh naysayers now?

Idiots.

[Tom Morris @tommorris32]

John Longmire is leaving Sydney to take up a role at Essendon.

@Boppa263 @EFCcorrespond Perfection, contracted, keep for the year again and get a better pick with compo next year than the dust the Hawks will put up again. 👋🏼

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

I thought he was supposed to be the next Zach Merrett or better?

[AFLRATINGS Trade GM @aflratings_GM]

Henry Hustwaite has been delisted at Hawthorn.

@michaeljbeamish @AFLNow The kids will play, i wouldn’t even worry about having limited game time.

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

@michaeljbeamish @AFLNow You don’t want kids bodies getting absolutley belted for 24 games a season. They’d be cooked by the age of 27.

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

@michaeljbeamish @AFLNow Don’t think this pick up is to play every single game mate, i’d be stoked if Viney comes and plays 10 games. He’d be more valuable with training standards etc.

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

Would of thought anyone serious about being a senior coach again gets back into the system like Buckley etc.

Yeah, hmm, interesting.

Can’t wait for the naysayers to blame Welshy on this one so they can get their agenda across though.

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

@PaulDonGipps @PaulAmy375 Didn’t get the gig he wanted so backtracked.

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

@DeanFonzy @Essington1897 I wouldn’t say ‘staying’ at GWS considering it’s 50/50.

[Spike Statham @spikestath]

Add Viney as ✅ to my previous post.

Much needed help for the younger crop coming through.
