@VanGreens Emily Lowan @BCGreens leader keeps endorsing COPE candidates but has yet to endorse a single Vancouver Green. Keep working for it. You might be lucky enough to get it.
@savoirfaire_2@Grochowa2 Not any more, because they aren’t clients of the programs that have been added to the criteria. These are folks who would have qualified before but didn’t get in before the program was changed
@savoirfaire_2@Grochowa2 Yeah - it’s not just about the form of documentation, it’s that people have to be enrolled in other programs with stricter criteria. Most folks at high risk are no longer eligible. Really frustrating - I was trying to support elders to get access, they’re mostly out of luck now
@savoirfaire_2@Grochowa2 Sorry, perhaps I wasn’t clear. They always had eligibility criteria. The program was a success. They then made the eligibility criteria very restrictive - you now have to be receiving home care or be in a MHSU program to qualify. That’s the change I’m objecting to
619 people died in BC in 2021 because of the heat dome that year, with 457 of those (74%) occurring in the Lower Mainland, but yeah, I guess there weren’t any lessons to be learned from that or the entire town of Lytton burning down
@seanorr City staff said at a recent rezoning hearing that softening asking rents are primarily attributable to decreased demand. CMHC indicates that actual rents are still going up. Has this moved the needle on how many Vancouverites are rent-burdened? I doubt that they care.
The thing about conflict of interest is *perception*.
A normal taxpayer-funded plaza takes 6-10 months to approve, but if you are a neighbour in the employ of the mayor Ken Sim's office it takes less than four?
🤔
*perception*
We've said this for over a decade, and we're seeing the final empirical defenestration of the YIMBY polemic against elasticity of demand: their claim that luxury supply will be picked up by local owners which will free up lower priced stock via "trickle down" demand.
Unsold, unoccupied and unaffordable
In the city of Vancouver, 81% of the new unsold condo units are priced at more than $1m
"Newly built condos in Vancouver are too pricey to sell, CMHC data show" as told by @GoldinYVR#vanre#vanpoli

@Cazzy@ArminderRand Yeah. I’ve been a civic Green for nine or so years and I was in the NDP for some of that time. The BC Greens under Weaver were radioactive to workers. Times have changed!
@ArminderRand So - there’s a misleading post that’s a month old, the OP left the post up, the post gets more eyeballs than the correction, and now the misinformation has legs. It’s unfortunate.
Are you a Van Greens member OR are you willing to join BY SATURDAY so you can vote in their nomination race?
If so vote for my accomplished friend Stephanie Smith @spkr118—a fighter who'd be a brilliant city councillor (that's her in the photo!) #vanpoli https://t.co/cMncKVrCLt
@MikeHanafin@jackunheard I'll sideeye anyone who goes to the Coachella Influencer Bowl, but they'll pry my Glastonbury tickets out of my cold dead hands
