@michaeldexter I’m assuming the incremental number you are referring to is the output from git —rev-list —count sha?
If so then you can do this:
git show “branchname~$count”
Where count is the count from the branch tip minus the actual commit count for the rev you want

@michaeldexter I think you can use DHCP client ID generated on the host to further unique your client. Your client id could be the mac-address AND some other generated content such as the OS name/version or other meta-data. This should give each machine multiple possible IPs per MAC.
