Athlete: Coach… I think I want to quit.
Coach: Okay. Then let’s talk about why.
Athlete: I’m tired. All the early mornings, the pain, the pressure. Sometimes I wake up and wonder what I’m even doing this for.
Coach: That’s not quitting. That’s being human. Doubt shows up when you’re close to something that matters.
Athlete: But I’m not even sure I’m good enough. I look around and see people stronger, faster… happier.
Coach: Comparison is a liar. It shows you everyone’s surface but hides their struggle. You don’t need to be better than them. You need to be better than yesterday.
Athlete: What if I never win? What if I give everything and still fall short?
Coach: Then you’ll walk away with something most never touch—truth. The kind you only find when you’ve emptied yourself for something bigger than comfort.
Athlete: So… you think I should keep going?
Coach: I think you already know the answer. You wouldn’t be having this conversation if you truly wanted to stop. You just want someone to remind you that it’s worth it.
Athlete: It hurts, Coach. Some days, it really hurts.
Coach: Good. That means you care. And nothing worth having comes without pain. Now breathe. You’ve made it through every hard day so far.
Most quit before the breakthrough!
Don’t be like most!
Barack: You told me all those years ago that you couldn’t promise me the world, but you could promise me an interesting life. Of course, you outdid yourself and managed to give me both.
Eight years in the crucible, and not once did you melt from the heat. Not once did you let it harden you. Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence: your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage, your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency, your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber.
Sitting back watching God WORK on, in, and thru Shedeur in the midst of this whole NFL situation, all I can do is rejoice.🙌🏽
I know it seems unfair BUT GOD allowed it for reasons we may not fully understand. It’s BIGGER than football and God will get the Glory out of HIS-story.
“Who you are is more important that what you do. Because who you are is your character. Your character is an accumulation of your thoughts, your habits and your priorities on a day to day basis. Those three things determine the choices you make,” Nick Saban
Always respect yourself enough to walk away from anything— teams, circles, habits, mindsets that no longer push you to grow. If it’s not making you better or bringing you peace, it’s holding you back. High-level athletes & leaders don’t stay stuck. They chase growth, not comfort!

You will run and not be weary; you will walk and not faint. You’re going to think, “Where did I get this strength?” It was God doing for you what He did for David, supercharging your life, making things happen that you couldn’t make happen.
Today’s athlete doesn’t just need a coach who knows the game. They need one who knows them.
Knows what’s going on at home.
Knows when they’re hurting.
Knows how to listen.
Be the kind of coach who stays in their corner, no matter what.
Now name a coach you know who lives this out.
I'll go first. @coachmatsumoto
He is living this out. He is on mission. Transforming lives AND winning a few football games along the way :)

As a coach, you need to be just as mentally tough as you ask your players to be. Don't just talk about it. Practice what you preach and lead by example!
