Meijer Employee Arrested for Stealing Food
March 7, 2024
Seven Hills, Ohio

Facts:
On March 7, 2024, James, a deli worker at the Meijer store on 7701 Broadview Road, was arrested for stealing $110 worth of food, including fruit cups and chicken. The thefts occurred over several months, as reported by the store’s loss prevention officer.

Seven Hills police were called after Meijer management documented multiple instances of James consuming deli items in the break room without paying. The stolen items were valued at over $110, meeting the threshold for criminal charges.

Bodycam footage of the arrest, released in April 2025, went viral amassing over 5 million views. James, who allegedly has special needs, admitted to taking the food and intended to pay it back, as heard in the footage.

The arrest took place at the Broadview Road store, and James was charged with theft.

Meijer stated the arrest followed an investigation showing “multiple thefts over multiple months.” Critics, including HR consultant Suzanne Lucas, argued progressive discipline, like a formal write-up, should have been used first.

🚨 New bodycam footage shows a 16-year-old deli worker at Meijer reportedly disabled, ARRESTED over $110 in fruit cups and chicken taken across three months just to get through his shifts.

A $15 BILLION corporation didn’t show compassion. They built a case. They dragged a hungry kid out in cuffs.

Instead of a write up, or intervention, they built a case up to 110 dollars to prosecute.

This isn’t organized crime. It isn’t theft on a grand scale. It’s a teenager eating at work. And their answer was humiliation, handcuffs, and destruction of his future.

What America sees in that footage isn’t justice. It’s corporate cruelty at its worst. And now people are calling for a boycott against Meijer.
