@HockeyBanterPod@BarnHockey Tells me that the only people who care about what I said are Wings fans… so it makes sense.
I’ve heard nothing but insults… no counter argument though.
@llMadnezll@BarnHockey Obviously a lot of Wings fans who don’t like the truth.
I didn’t say anything that wasn’t factual. He’s not like the other players on that list.
Sorry 🤷🏻♂️
@DatAvsGamer@potilla_s@BarnHockey You’re entitled to your opinion, but Joe Sakic was the best player in the NHL in 2001. Slightly better both offensively and defensively than Jagr that year…. And Sakic didn’t have Lemieux putting up 35 goals and 76 points in 43 games alongside him that year either.
@DatAvsGamer@potilla_s@BarnHockey Lol.
Sakic’s Hart Trophy means nothing I suppose.
Bourque being a defenseman who was MVP runner up twice, with three other Top 5 finishes.
Guys that do that are considered as greater than players who never do that.
@Fayd2blak@SperryTime Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Crosby, Jagr, McDavid, Ovechkin, Messier, Sakic, Yzerman, Lafleur, Bourque… that’s 12 who are ahead of him. And that’s just from 1967 onward…
Great defenseman. Not a Top 10 player of all time. And that’s okay.
@DatAvsGamer@potilla_s@BarnHockey Your problem is you remember Bourque as the guy Sakic handed the Cup to.
It’s great moment… so great that it overshadows his career.
@DatAvsGamer@potilla_s@BarnHockey Lidstrom put up 1142 points, which is slightly higher than Bourques 1111… assists.
Then Bourque added 410 goals.
Bourque won 5 Norris Trophy’s and was a finalist 10 other times.
Lidstrom was a great d-man.
Bourque was a greater player.
@DatAvsGamer@potilla_s@BarnHockey Yes.
Bourque was a First Team All Star 13 times. Lidstrom was a First+Second Team All Star 12 times. (Bourque added another 6 Second Team All Stars.)
Bourque was 2nd in Hart voting… twice. Had three other finishes in the Top 5.
@DatAvsGamer@potilla_s@BarnHockey Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Crosby, McDavid, Ovechkin, Jagr, Messier, Yzerman, Sakic, Bourque, Lafleur…
There’s 12, and that’s only since 1967 expansion, and no goalies.
🤷🏻♂️He is in the Top 20 of all time… maybe Top 15.
This list has SIX players ahead of him.
THAT is absurd.
@Fayd2blak@SperryTime Orr won 8 straight Norris’s, three straight MVP’s, led the league in scoring multiple times…and MOST people have him 3rd on the all time list.
You think Lidstrom is even close to that?
You think he’s only a few spots behind Orr on the ALL TIME list??
Now that is absurd.
@Fayd2blak@SperryTime He IS a top 3… behind the two you mentioned.
What’s absurd about what I said? Do you think the 3rd best defenseman is amongst the Top 10 to ever play?
@SperryTime Care to go into detail about what makes it absurd, or even a take?
Everything I said was factual.
Your GOAT defenseman was never once seriously considered as the MVP of the NHL in any season…
He didn’t win a Norris until he was like 30.
Is any of that wrong?
@Treemanboy1@BarnHockey Are you trying to tell me that if, in 1995, after losing to New Jersey, they traded Lidstrom is Boston for Bourque… they wouldn’t have won their Cups? Are you mad?
@Treemanboy1@BarnHockey Orr was the focal point for every team he played against from the time he was 12. Lidstrom is not that.
Bourque was a Top 4 d-man in the NHL from his rookie year and then like the next 16 straight years. Two MVP runner-up’s, 3 others in the Top 5. 410 goals. 1100+ assists.
K.
@BurnerWjp@BarnHockey Nah, not really.
What’s stupid is reading “Lidstrom isn’t in the Top 10 ALL TIME” and equating that with thinking Lidstrom sucked.
Lidstrom didn’t suck.
He’s just not in the Top 10.
