Im positive, for better or worse, you could point to any element of one of his movies and he could give you a dissertation on his decision behind the framing, lenses, editing, etc
Half these dorks if put under that level of pressure would point the camera and hope for the best
I really dont think Nolan considers himself a genius. I think he just makes slightly more thoughtful movies than are typically made at those kinds of budgets and a certain kind of film buff will project their own intellectual insecurities on to him
The whole idea of people thinking he's dumb is legit preposterous. The level of energy and focus required to direct a movie on that level, even poorly, is unfathomable. Like yeah im sure your version of Batman or Interstellar would be way more intellectually stimulating lol
Every movie should end with someone closing a book with the title of the movie and then explaining to the camera that it was all just a story — or was it? — and wishing you a good night
letterboxd is great but we need a return of actual message boards. imdb going dark created a really huge vacuum of connection that I miss so much. i took those boards for granted
