@baseballcrank In my experience, a meaningful portion of the people arguing about this Pride Day baseball thing cannot accurately describe what a “force out” is.
@OriginalClady I’ve got nothing against Pride Day, but Jackie Robinson is a groundbreaking figure with a direct, historic connection to the sport. Not an apt comparison.
@Ryan_D2TF I get that. I just find the immediate deference to the business side of equation amusing because it feels so out of character given the sides.
(I’m also cynical and think MLB loves the $marketing$ aspect above all when it comes to these things)
@ARdoppelganger What would’ve been the reaction if they hadn’t, though? Given the reaction to the Bible verses I have a hard time believing people wouldn’t have noticed or merely shrugged it off.
@dilanesper 1) Large LGBT+ population in San Francisco = 👍
2) The city is named after a Catholic Saint and founded on the site of a mission still standing today = also 👍
@BobFakeNameEsq I’m fine with Pride Night (don’t really care about the Bible verse thing, though). I’m just amazed at how much deference some of the defenders are giving to the MLB.
This is marketing. All of these “nights” are. Sorry, I’m a bit jaded lol.
@OriginalClady And also gives us your money!
Sorry, nothing specific against Pride Night, just cynical about all these specially targeted events. It’s all marketing.
@jarvis_best My first stupid thought when I heard this was, “if the Phil hadn’t murdered Vito, they could’ve sent him to California to earn even more.”
