The Smalltooth sand tiger is the perfect example of how appearances are deceiving. At first sight, a 4-foot-tall animal full of sharp teeth. The reality is that all they transmit is peace and a feeling of being in front of a prehistoric animal. @felipe_ravina

Wait - aren't zebra mussel the big problem? Nope - it's #quagga mussels that are wreaking the most havoc in the #greatlakes these days. There are quadrillions (that's 15 zeros!) of quaggas down there, and they're changing how our lakes work.

These #cisco are hungry! With declining native zooplankton in the #greatlakes (thanks mussels!) these #lakemichigan cisco have adapted to eat invasive zooplankton and small fish like these #alewives. Cisco were once almost totally gone from Lake MI -amazing to see them rebounding
