Christmas came early this year! Yesterday I was officially appointed as a Full Professor @Uni_MR🥳🍾. Thanks to everyone who helped me get to this incredible milestone. Thanks so much to my lab members #phagebusters, colleagues @SYNMIKRO, @Uni_MR, @mpi_marburg, .... (1/n)
📢Check out the phage-dedicated database PhageDive developed by the DSMZ. This database makes it easier for researchers to find phages based on their needs.

We discovered a new immune signaling molecule: N7-cADPR
N7-cADPR is produced by phage-stimulated TIR proteins. It activates a bacterial caspase, which then degrades essential proteins to curb infection

Congrats @FrancoisRousset & @IlyaOsterman
We are going viral! Our public outreach project “Going viral 2024” started today! During the next days school kids are learning how to isolate phages from their own soil samples! @dfg_public@fz_juelich@iamphaged@cg_bbr97@FrunzkeLab
Wonderful guest editing a special issue in Current Opinion in #Microbiology with the amazing @FrunzkeLab, entitled: Host-Microbe Interactions: #viruses 2024.
Check out the 12 amazing contributions and our #Tolkien inspired editorial :

This was a wonderful meeting @SPP2330 again! Great kick-off of our second funding period!
Amazing science going on in the phage field and great to see students/postdocs from the first funding period starting their independent labs.
@dfg_public, @fz_juelich, @HHU_de
Great talk in the frame of our career and industry session from @SamuelKilcher on Engineered Phages as Diagnostics and Therapeutics – a Journey from Basic Science to Industry
We are ready to go for the Annual SPP2330 Meeting on “New Concepts in Prokaryotic Virus-host Interactions”! With a fantastic line up of speakers: Alexander Harms @AHarms485, Karen Maxwell @theMaxwellLab, Samuel Kilcher @SamuelKilcher, and Mathias Middelboe @mmiddelboe1
We are hiring!
Together with @__jphilipp, we are looking for two motivated PhD candidates to investigate fundamental immune mechanisms of bacteria against bacteriophages in the framework of the DFG priority program @SPP2330!

It was fun to bring together this special issue as editor with @RobLavigne1!
Lucky to be part of a research community "...driven by curiosity and fellowships of phage researchers looking for someone to share in an adventure."
