@glardre@the_transit_guy Yeah, the Seattle waterfront has the stroad problem after removing the viaduct and putting in an expensive tunnel for hwy99. They originally had renderings of a pretty boulevard with trees, but they built 5 travel lanes plus parking.
@larsiusprime Yeah, there's something particularly humbling about sitting in a 450 person weed-out course and realizing ~100 people sitting in that room with you are going to fail the class and another ~100 people are also going to have their dream of premed/engineering/etc die.
@SNGreenways Is there any update on the Georgetown to South Park segment? Last update on the sdot site is that bidding started in May and they hope to do it this year.
@mollyfleck@latteconsrtve Still needs to be paired with some changes to road design. In Seattle they lowered the speed limits to 25 but the former 35mph, 4-6 lane roads stayed dangerous because everyone still goes 40+ and some even weave through traffic or illegally use the bus leaves to speed even more.
@robfindlay@bestfoodalex@dieworkwear Its a drive in location, not a truck. He's basically standing exactly where the Google maps pin drops https://t.co/uflh5htsoS
@trunksahoy @holz_bau Yeah, I lived behind the art supply store on 8th and it was so loud. Also the crowd from the club that was there would have loud drunk walking around from 2-4am. In the summer you chose between not sleeping due to noise or not sleeping due to heat.
@the_transit_guy Part of why they don't build through the gap is that if there was more travel through the area, it might compromise the screwworm quarantine and prevention area there that's preventing huge costs to agriculture:

@pearbalancer@Iamjusthere4be1@daeshikjr Yeah, I crashed my bike and got concussed on my way to work last year and continued the rest of the way to work. I had no idea until my coworker pointed out that I was showing symptoms later that day. Was way too focused on pain from bruises to notice.
@MelancholyFlppr@alanthefisher The plan was just to adjust the rail path but they tied it up politically and then sued over studies to slow it down even more. The railroad is only used 30 times per year so I think it's more about possible parking impact and truck deliveries. https://t.co/S6M5MnyMv4
@pushtheneedle@typewriteralley I have thrifted a lot and never encountered city of Seattle merch using that flag. I did order a printed shirt with that flag back when I was in highschool tho
@YourfavPrem Is there a summary somewhere of what area that covers? I do rides down there a lot but haven't strayed far from the interurban/green river trails because the east/west routes seem sketchy to bike
@RetroTechDreams Upgrading the throne room was the best part of these old civ games. Also maybe looking at the rendering of the city with all the wonders you've build
@typewriteralley I think some homeowners would freak out because they currently park or have front yard activities that spill into city right of way that the sidewalk will use tho
@typewriteralley I am sure the cuts proposed suck, but sidewalks and traffic calming on 95th would be very good. To get to my parents house at 75th maps direct me to go up to 95th because there's almost no lights or stop signs and everyone drives 40mph even with peds in the shoulder
