Zack Polanski has destroyed the Green Party as a serious political entity. He’s such a weird, deluded, nasty, and gutless piece of work.

GB Energy, the useless state-owned company established by Labour, has so far spent £14.2m on running costs — and £5.8m on investments.
Running costs included the almost £400,000/year paid to its ineffective CEO and six executives on more than £100,000 each. What any of them has done to earn these sums is one of life’s mysteries.
Perhaps it’s a blessing it’s invested so little. The £5.8m it has earmarked is for a proposed floating wind farm off the north coast of Scotland — a sure-fire loss-maker if ever there was one.

There’s an extraordinary amount to unpack in this BBC report, and much of the most revealing material is buried between the lines.

For a start, it demonstrates that the British government has diplomatic levers it can pull to tackle the illegal migration crisis. Threats of visa restrictions have already persuaded Angola, Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo to cooperate more fully with returns.

So these measures can work. The obvious question is why successive governments haven’t been more willing to use them.

And then comes perhaps the most revealing detail of all.

An Oxford migration expert points out that Pakistan and Bangladesh are among the countries with the largest numbers of refused asylum seekers who have not been returned. Yet sanctioning those countries could have wider economic consequences because of the number of students and workers coming to Britain.

In other words, we’re prepared to get tough with countries where the economic consequences are relatively insignificant, but apparently more reluctant where trade, universities and employers might be affected.

Is that really how immigration enforcement should work?

Then there’s the BBC’s framing.

We’re told small boat arrivals are down 40% this year, which is welcome news. But more than 20,400 people have still arrived by this route. That’s hardly a problem disappearing into insignificance.

We’re also told that more than 40,600 people were returned or deported in the year to June, an 8% increase.

Again, welcome progress.

But the BBC then adds that “fewer than 6,000” of those returned had been convicted of a criminal offence.

So we’re talking about thousands of criminals, yet the wording seems almost to invite readers to regard it as a relatively small proportion of the total.

And then there’s the wider question that Britain seems perpetually unwilling to confront.

Eritrea is an appalling authoritarian state. It has never held a national election since independence, has no independent media, persecutes religious minorities and can subject its citizens to military conscription lasting decades.

Of course people want to escape.

But why must their journey end in Britain? How many other countries have they travelled through? Why isn’t protection being provided closer to home where it’s safe and practical to do so?

And why do we so rarely discuss the political failures that have left so many African countries unable to offer their own people security, freedom and prosperity?

Africa has enormous natural resources, immense human potential and examples of countries making genuine political and economic progress. Yet large parts of the continent remain afflicted by corruption, authoritarianism, conflict and institutional failure.

In progressive discourse, these problems are too often explained almost exclusively through the legacy of European colonialism.

That history matters, certainly. But it cannot explain away every failure of governance decades after independence.

At what point do we start holding contemporary African political leaders and ruling elites responsible for the decisions they make, the institutions they undermine and the opportunities they squander?

Surely genuine respect for African countries means treating them as sovereign nations with agency and responsibility, rather than as perpetual victims of European history.

Britain cannot solve the world’s problems by allowing the consequences of failed governance elsewhere to wash up indefinitely on its shores.

We need an asylum system that protects people genuinely fleeing persecution, removes those with no right to remain, and uses the diplomatic powers available to enforce those decisions.

And we need the political courage to discuss the underlying causes of mass migration, rather than endlessly managing its consequences.

How on earth can police describe an alleged gang rape in Swindon as an “isolated incident”?

In the 12 months to March 2026, police recorded 74,727 rape offences across England and Wales.

That's more than 200 recorded rapes every single day.

Rape is not some rare occurrence in Britain.

It is a rampant and deeply disturbing problem that demands serious action.

Four men have now been arrested following allegations that a woman was raped in a Swindon car park.

Let's call this what it is.

Britain has a serious sexual violence problem, and we cannot keep pretending otherwise.

Women deserve to feel safe in their own country.

Sir David Amess was murdered by an Islamist terrorist, another in a long line of religious fanatics who have committed atrocities in the United Kingdom, slaughtering innocent people in the name of a medieval, militant interpretation of their faith.

We know that MI5 is constantly working to thwart further Islamist attacks, thankfully with considerable success. And yet our politicians seem far more comfortable talking about Islamophobia than confronting the ideological threat that has already claimed so many British lives.

I’m sick and tired of the increasingly binary debate about what it means to be British or English. Because, to my mind, the answer is remarkably simple.

It’s about values.

It doesn’t matter what colour your skin is, where your parents were born or what your ethnicity happens to be. What matters is what you believe in.

Democracy. Free speech. The rule of law. Tolerance of other religions and beliefs. Equality before the law. A belief in individual liberty. And, yes, some affection for this country and its traditions, rather than an instinctive contempt for everything it represents.

Those are the values that, for my money, define Britishness, and Englishness too.

But if you subscribe to the worldview of religious fanatics who believe that their interpretation of scripture entitles them to impose their beliefs on others, subordinate women, persecute minorities, suppress dissent or murder those they regard as infidels, then you represent a threat not only to Britain but to Western civilisation itself.

And our politicians need to find the courage to say so.

The British public can see what is happening. And I suspect growing numbers are thoroughly sick of being patronised and gaslit by politicians who respond to every new ideologically motivated atrocity with the same exhausted platitudes about diversity, tolerance and how the terrorists “will never divide us”.

We’ve heard it after 7/7. After Westminster Bridge. After London Bridge. After the Manchester Arena bombing. And after the murder of Sir David Amess.

But who, exactly, is trying to divide us?

It isn’t the ordinary British citizen who wants secure borders, freedom of speech, the rule of law and a society in which people can live peacefully regardless of their background.

It’s the fanatics who reject those values, despise the society that protects their freedoms and, in the most extreme cases, are prepared to murder their fellow citizens in pursuit of their ideology.

And until our political class is prepared to speak plainly about that ideology, rather than retreating into euphemism and platitude, we will never confront the threat with the seriousness it deserves.

You cannot defeat an enemy you are too cowardly even to name.

[Charlie Walsham @CharlieWalsham_]

It’s so odd, isn’t it? Watching footage of a drag artist wandering around the BBC Look North office, going from desk to desk, gently scolding members of staff in a performance that doesn’t strike me as particularly funny, I couldn’t help wondering why this sort of thing is considered perfectly acceptable.

Imagine someone dressing up as a crude caricature of a Chinese person and going around making racially stereotypical jokes. There would quite rightly be outrage. Blackface would be utterly unthinkable, and you’d probably be on rocky ground even putting on a kilt and pretending to be a drunken Scotsman.

Yet dressing up as an exaggerated, often grotesque caricature of a woman is apparently not just acceptable but something to be celebrated.

It genuinely feels as though women are the last group it’s still permissible to mock and degrade. And while misogyny is hardly confined to one side of the political spectrum, what I find particularly astonishing is that this sort of thing is enthusiastically embraced by the supposedly progressive left.

Women are being attacked from both sides. On the one hand, there’s the familiar misogyny of right-wing incel lunatics. On the other, there’s a progressive movement that celebrates exaggerated stereotypes of femininity as portrayed by men while simultaneously treating the biological reality of being an actual woman as though it’s some sort of mutable, contested concept.

And here we have the BBC, an organisation that prides itself on its supposedly enlightened values, apparently happy to indulge in precisely this sort of thing.

I sometimes feel as though I’m trapped in a fever dream. How on earth did the modern left, which once regarded itself as the champion of women’s rights, become so spectacularly regressive?

[𝑮𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𓍢ִ໋♡ @CopperCation]

This guy has just been granted more rights and protections than 51% of the population.
'Rape is a spectrum' is apparently now a protected belief.

What a slap in the face for survivors. The government's facade of protecting women and girls has been well and truly ripped away.

[Charlie Walsham @CharlieWalsham_]

If you’re not sure what the consequences of suicidal empathy can be, just take a look at the Green Party.

What was once a movement that drew support from voters across the political spectrum, grounded in a desire to see greater emphasis on environmental protections and a sustainable pathway towards tackling climate change, is now a party full of gender ideologues and anti-Semites.

And how did this happen? Because, in their desperation to demonstrate their kindness, compassion and inclusivity, the Greens threw open their doors to anyone who claimed to be oppressed or marginalised, apparently without stopping to ask whether the people they were welcoming shared their values. They were so determined not to appear intolerant that they ended up tolerating the intolerant. And those with the most extreme agendas have taken full advantage.

Climate change is no longer the priority. The destruction of Israel is. And the destruction of women’s sex-based rights. And the destruction of safeguards for children experiencing distress about their sexuality or identity. And the destruction of parental rights for those who want to stop their children making potentially life-ruining decisions on the back of some nonsense they’ve watched on TikTok.

This is what the Green Party has become. A ragtag collection of contradictory worldviews, expressed by angry misfits and intellectually stunted “liberals” who hold deeply authoritarian and illiberal views, but couldn’t explain any of them if pressed.

Green Party members are essentially affiliated to a cult. A revolutionary movement that stands for everything and nothing. One that professes kindness and compassion while making excuses for murder and rape carried out by racist death cult terrorists against innocent Jewish people. One that believes any man in a dress should have the same rights as women, while aligning itself with the sort of conservative Muslim voter who thinks homosexuals are an abomination, never mind transsexuals.

And here’s the supreme irony. The very people who pride themselves on being the most enlightened, compassionate and tolerant members of society have allowed their movement to be captured by people whose beliefs are fundamentally at odds with the liberal values they claim to cherish. So desperate were they to avoid excluding anyone that they’ve ended up surrendering the very purpose of their party.

If you’re a serious person, you can’t support the Greens anymore. I’m sorry.

And if we’re all destroyed by climate change, we thoroughly deserve it. But none more so than those who’ve allowed the Green Party to be so utterly hijacked and inverted at a time when a serious environmental movement is needed more than ever.
