fwiw been thinking about this through a coase (1937) lens this week.

firms exist because internal coordination beats market coordination. that boundary has been the explanation for 90 years.

ai now drops the cost of coordinating with an agent below the cost of coordinating with a colleague. so optimal firm size shrinks.
