It’s time to #getPRdone#ProportionalRepresentation
We are where we are and that's miles away from a #HungParliament.
We're very close to relegating one of the two main #FPTP parties into 3rd. That too is a significant step towards #PR.
Inspect your seat closely using @GetTheToryOut or @sprintforpr sites. Use your vote wisely.
Morning all -- and hello new followers!
There are now twelve (and counting?) different models making seat-by-seat predictions for next Thursday's election, and while they all indicate a Labour landslide, there's a lot of disagreement in the details.
https://t.co/cqWvGtWBI9 is the one-stop shop for your tactical voting needs in this election. We want to @getprdone, @MakeVotesMatter and create an outcome that advances the cause of electoral reform and progressive co-operation as advocated by @CompassOffice and others...
@Revsimmy @bryonytweets @Keir_Starmer The best place to make an informed decision is @sprintforpr as it allows you to see where your seat lies in the grand scheme of seats. https://t.co/flETmVhMbs
Safe Labour seats are a defaut Green vote by the way for everyone. It's important they erode that way to increase Green's 4 seats to 40 or 140. See where your seat sits in @sprintforpr. #Vote4PR
🔴 Dismay as Starmer Backs Westminster’s ‘Winner Takes All’ Voting System as Labour Eyes Big Majority
In 2020, Starmer hinted at backing PR, but now appears to support continuing with Westminster’s First Past the Post system – @josiahmortimer reports
https://t.co/R6jnkMqzGD
1⃣ Public support for changing the voting system just hit a record high
2⃣+80% of his own party wants change
3⃣ Labour's policy forum recognised that FPTP is driving “the distrust and alienation" in politics
4⃣scores of #WinAsOne candidates around the country are about to be elected on the basis of their support for #FairVotes
This is unfounded and risky.
Labour should be enabled, empowered, and emboldened by victory. By refusing to engage with the necessary democratic changes we need, they risk making a cage of their win - one that makes way for the rise of the populist Right.
BREAKING: @Keir_Starmer reveals he thinks First Past the Post gave us the "strong government" of Johnson, Truss and Sunak, and is "not making any changes to it".
Farage and Braverman will be laughing their heads off right now. 😳
Labour stands to win as many as 70% of seats with just 41% of votes…
While the Tories could win just 10% of seats despite clinching 20% of votes… and Reform could win 0 seats with 16% of votes
That’s the extraordinary potential ‘distortion’ we could see at UK election, acc to @ft analysis of polls by @jburnmurdoch
