This round of layoffs in particular it feels clear that this isn't about a recession or profit or even worker quality. It's about fear induction. Lay off a bunch of people, and you grab a bit of power back out of the fear among the remaining. It is easier to exploit them.
btw most of those leaders I mentioned are still very much employed and celebrated for their generous severance packages and "classy" emails. The bar really is on the floor for white men with power.
As someone who was laid off 2 months ago, the recent layoff news is absolutely gutting me. In many cases, leaders fucked up, overpromised growth numbers to shareholders, then laid people off to perform apology & accountability to those shareholders.
Tens of thousands of REAL people are out of work for this whole charade. Just this month. So far. Why aren't more people talking about this? Where is our collective outrage?

@RidlenRich I get that - after it started airing, it took me a few weeks to give it a go. I found that it was pretty fast paced and had a sense of humor, despite not being a comedy. I'd say read a review of it and see if that sparks your interest! I really really loved it.

Before you reach out with well-intentioned referrals or mock interview offers, please first show up as a friend to help them process what's just happened.
