12 years ago today, Israel murdered 4 Palestinian boys playing on a beach in Gaza. RIP
4 boys who had their whole lives ahead of them, 4 boys murdered because of who they were.
Remember their names: Ismail Bakr 9, Zakaria Bakr 10, Ahed Bakr 10, Mohamed Bakr 11 #FreePalestine 🇵🇸
Today is World Genocide Commemoration Day.
An Gorta Mór.
To call this period in Irish history a famine dishonours the pain and untold suffering our ancestors endured.
British warships took the food of our land for profit while our people starved.
It was genocide.
the descendants of an ancient clergy killing off the tribe of a man they crucified. no matter how much I try, I just can't not see that. they are repeating their own history, only this time they're Egypt, Rome and Babylon
The absolute incapacity of Western leaders to enforce intl law when it comes to Israel is EPIC.
Ministers, Prime Ministers, Presidents of Republic:
Doing NOTHING, diverting attention, sanctioning individual ministers IS NOT enforcing the intl law that was developed after the Holocaust and WWII to prevent another Holocaust and WWII.
At this critical point,
Your states have a CLEAR obligation to:
1. Sanction Israel
2. Impose a total arms embargo (no buy, no sell, no transfer, direct or indirect)
3. Break the siege (send navies instead of dropping food on the head of starving genocide survivors)
4. Suspend all trade agreements with Israel till the end of the genocide, occupation and apartheid.
5. Investigate and prosecute individuals and orgs that have committed crimes in the oPt.
Together we can, and we will.
Demand the Irish government stops blocking the Occupied Territories Bill and finally ban trade with illegal settlers on Palestinian land #PassTheOTB https://t.co/ARZWuP4gAd via @UpliftIRL
Today's ICJ hearing was devastating. Horror after horror, laid out in plain sight for all to see.
South Africa spoke for millions around the world desperate for this massacre to end — and put the UK & US government to shame for their deplorable silence, cowardice and complicity.
I’m shocked at the rhetoric and actions of so many Western leaders & governments, with the exception in particular of Ireland’s government, who for once are doing the right thing. War crimes are war crimes even when committed by allies, and should be called out for what they are.
Today is #NakbaDay. 75 years ago a catastrophe was visited on the Palestinian people - the violent beginnings of Israel's occupation. It continues today.
@vonderleyen recently described these events as a "dream." That is unacceptable, and must be condemned. #VonDerLies#Nakba
Against the backdrop of the collapse of the #Afghan economy in a bitterly cold winter - where @WFP predicts a million children will die of starvation in 2 months - the world's richest country ransacks 7 billion in state assets from the world's poorest country and we say nothing.
Julian Assange speaking in 2011: "The goal is to use Afghanistan to wash money out of the tax bases of the US and Europe through Afghanistan and back into the hands of a transnational security elite. The goal is an endless war, not a successful war" #Afghanistan
Our shoes are made by people paid $75 a month.
The metals in our phones are mined by African children paid pennies.
Meanwhile every single SECOND of every day Jeff Bezos makes the same as a Bangladeshi garment worker's YEARLY salary! ($420)
The Dáil has spoken with one voice. Ireland is now the 1st EU country to state Israel has de-facto annexed Palestinian lands and their actions break international law.
There must be consequences for these actions. #FreePalestine 🇵🇸
