@AGHuff@grok Would be reasonable to say that this sets our Bayesian priors in support of a resistant stain emerging from this scenario as weakening the case for natural exposure, while not eliminating the possibility.
@AGHuff Does that region have unusual acquired resistance patterns?
The uninitiated aren't going to typically recognize intrinsic resistance as resistance.
When I hear this from laymen, I interpret as resistance to empiric therapy. First line drugs, or possibly into the alternatives.
@thereal_truther@DrJ_surgeon@weldeiry Tell me you don't understand epistemology without telling me you don't understand epistemology.
Clinical experience doesn't fit so neatly into your inherited dogma, treating guidelines as if law. Case reports, broadly, may have lower value while, specifically, be the key insight
@DrJoelGator Used to be that we wanted to retain our means of TB screening using PPD, and vaccination causes that screen to be falsely positive.
Now that we screen with IGRA methods, perhaps we need to reevaluate whether a low efficacy vaccine is worthwhile for selected populations?
@in_my_red_era@angie_rasmussen Relates to the Spanish Flu pandemic, with aspirin still a new product. Proposes that deaths could be attributable to aspirin overdosing, explaining the paradoxical over representation of young&previously healthy dying in their own fluids. Pharmacology still primitive at the time.
@RefineRenew@IanCopeland5@BretWeinstein Ian has, specifically and in detail, himself been implicated within Covid conspiracy. Highly aggressive bad faith argumentation protecting the cover stories, patrolling this platform with a cadre to attack anyone who threatens the narrative with logic, reason, and basic humanity.
@spilkommen@BretWeinstein@TherionWare Okay, I'll bite. What's the logical fallacy here?
Conspiracies are common, conspirators hide under cover stories. Are you suggesting that the available evidence will necessarily provide a simpler explanation than the cover story?
With insufficient evidence, the truth is lost.
@BretWeinstein@RWMaloneMD Confirmatory testing is warranted, because that high cycle threshold setup is what's used for screening tests.
Perhaps if positive results had reflexed confirmation using an antigen test and/or an assay for IgM antibody we'd have more accurately picked out the true positives.
@BretWeinstein@RWMaloneMD Would expect the Covid PCR to be highly sensitive when set to a 45 cycle threshold and thus provide strong negative predictive value (NPV), but that compromises specificity and risks poor positive predictive value (PPV): few false negatives in exchange for more false positives.
@Rainmaker1973 An apology to everyone afflicted by her software would be a good use of that fortune. For those of us that spend chunks of our day enslaved to fixing problems caused by inane software development.
