I’m excited to announce some updates on our SquirrelMapper website and new ways to get involved in our #citizenscience research on #urbanevolution! 🐿️ https://t.co/DYjOt3zIdX [1/7]
Live in the NYC or DC metro areas? Interested in contributing to research on urban biodiversity and squirrels? 🐿️🐿️🐿️ Here’s how you can help! Together we can crack this nut! 😂 #communityscience https://t.co/sPa3UluZtv
The best kind of friends find dead squirrels for you AND text you about them. Thanks Linelle for always looking out for me.
And NYC people, please let me know if you find a dead squirrel. I have collection permits & I'm gathering data for a new project.
Thrilled & grateful for an NSF award to examine mechanisms of #UrbanEvolution with James Gibbs & Gisella Caccone. We’ll study the relationship between urbanization & squirrel coat color with field experiments, genomics, & citizen science. @squirrelsevolve https://t.co/JKpldYG7hK
If you live somewhere where S. carolinensis is found, especially in the northeastern US, you may have noticed that there is conspicuous variation in coat color. There's some cool citizen science that can come out of this, and potential lessons on evolution for 2° and 3° students
We just uploaded 7500 new photos of squirrels to SquirrelMapper on @the_zooniverse. Please help us classify the color of these squirrels! https://t.co/Y9UDlJ9v0S
New post about how natural selection in cities favors black morph Eastern Gray Squirrels featuring the work of @squirrelsevolve. https://t.co/aAzH0gpkTM
@SquirrelCensus We 🖤black #squirrels too! Here's a look at their North American distribution from our SquirrelMapper project with @inaturalist and @the_zooniverse. Our map isn't as cool as those from @Evelina_Jud : ) Check out https://t.co/GnUeH88dac for more!
I had the pleasure of speaking with @bradcosentino about the Squirrel Mapper project! This is an AWESOME citizen science project to bring into your classroom! I’m looking forward to creating evolution based lessons that concide with this research! @squirrelsevolve#RETevolution
