People really need to get over the "Chinese phones leak data, they're unsafe, they compromise privacy" notion.

Firstly, if you're on the internet, privacy is already a myth. Insurance companies, Bajaj finance, banks, etc. spam call you whether you use an iPhone or an Oppo.

This means all your data is already out there. Phone number, email ID, Aadhaar, PAN, address -- EVERYTHING. Stop creating this facade that your data is safe if you're using a phone from an American brand instead of a Chinese one.

Moreover, brands like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi also sell their phones in the EU. Which means they're GDPR-compliant. Now, if you think brands will fuck with GDPR just so that Xi Jinping can laugh at the memes in your gallery, you need to look at the penalties for non-compliance.

If you don't want to use a Chinese phone, that's up to you. But stop living in this bubble that other phones are "safer" and magically protect your privacy.
