☄️ basophilic appearance of the vessel wall.
☄️This is due to chromatin diffusion and encrustation of DNA from the necrotic tumor cells onto the vessel wall.
☄️Seen in high-grade malignant tumor with a fast cell turnover & cell death.

#HilaryBuckleyAward This study evaluates hysterectomies performed during 2024-2025 within a tertiary care center, Sri Lanka, for non-malignant causes, presented with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB). This study focuses on underlying structural pathologies and the agreement between preoperative and histopathological diagnoses. Among 66 cases (ages 40–55), the most common findings were Leiomyoma (45%) and Adenomyosis (36.4%), with smaller proportions showing polyps and chronic cervicitis. Multiple coexisting pathologies were seen in about one-fifth of cases. Preoperative ultrasound findings showed good concordance (77.3%) with histology, though a notable proportion (21.2%) had no significant histological abnormality. The study highlights the importance of careful patient selection, the role of non-invasive management, and the need for ongoing audits to justify hysterectomy practices and correlate clinical and pathological findings. #BAGP2026
