An online meeting of Keralam UDF MPs took place late last night to discuss the shocking decision of the Government of India to hive off a large chunk of the Palakkad Railway Division, creating severe financial and operational repercussions for the state. We have decided to protest this decision, taken without any consultation with the affected state government or its members of Parliament.

Keralam UDF MPs are demanding that the decision be suspended till a thorough discussion takes place on the matter. MPs from the Palakkad division and beyond will conduct a Dharna. I have drafted a letter to the Railway Minister, which will be unanimously signed and sent by UDF MPs. Keralam is entitled to a hearing, a fair process and a just outcome!
