Building on this, I’m going to re-up my take that designated RNase free benches are unnecessary nonsense ... and that if you “need” one in order for your experiments to work, I have other questions regarding your technique.
This paper was quite a journey, given that the bulk of the work was performed during the early months of the COVID pandemic. It did reinforce an important lesson - its often easier and better to just redo an experiment than to interpret an imperfect one with confounders
It also gave me the opportunity to write one of the favorite sentences I have ever written in the context of a scientific paper...
"At least six models could potentially explain the inability of the DDX3 paralogs to complement each other".
Overall, I leave academia with a heavy heart - but at the same time, I am genuinely excited by the opportunity at @sardonatx and to put my training and skills towards therapeutic development (9/9)
