A member of our group shared this with me, and it closely aligns with the experience we had following the survey some time ago. We are gradually working through the survey responses, summarizing them as we go, and we appreciate your patience throughout this process.
For now:
We provide a practical guide to creating miniature 3D models of chest wall anatomy, utilizing only consumer grade tools, to accurately visualize rib fractures for patient education and surgical planning.

Dr. Mark Kryskow has long stood at the intersection of precision and purpose, advancing chest wall and trauma surgery, building systems where none existed, and serving with a commitment that reaches far beyond the operating room. From the mountains to the ICU, his work has shaped trauma care, empowered communities, and restored quality of life to patients who needed it most.
As founder of the Regional Mountain Trauma System and Trauma Medical Director at Berkshire Health Systems, Dr. Kryskow has spent decades ensuring that the right care finds the right patient.
In partnership with et al., a digital presence has been built to grow alongside his mission. This platform will be amplifying the impact of his patients’ stories, extending reach for those in need, elevating education across clinical and alpine environments, and strengthening the bridge that connects the right surgeon to the right patient.

Dr. Kryskow’s mission is to deliver uncompromising surgical care grounded in compassion, honesty, and relentless advocacy—treating every patient like family and walking with them from injury through full recovery.
Joseph’s story is a powerful testament to that mission. Thank you to @AtriCure for the solutions you provide and for capturing this story so well.🤝

Pre- and post-op costal margin reconstruction (3.0): image comparison. The patient reports feeling more debilitated by pain rather than experiencing improvement. It has been 9 months since the first repair.

A cadaver study of intercostal nerves at the costal margin noted arborization into diaphragmatic and abdominal wall muscular branches with branching at the costochondral junction and rib tips. The 7th and 8th nerve courses are altered based on costal margin anatomy #CWIS2025@evert_eriksson #CWIS2025 @MUSCGenSurg@MUSCSurgery

“The largest GAP between standard of care and standard of practice exists in the surgical stabilization of rib fractures—SSRF.” I have quoted my friend Fred Pierracci many times while teaching on the subject since I heard him say this during his Presidential @CWISociety Address several years ago. It is estimated that perhaps only 10% of indicated rib fractures are treated with surgical stabilization, and the morbidity and mortality of this missed opportunity is high.

Just over a year ago, I was asked to be a part of a task force to write the 1rst ever guidelines on Chest Wall Injury for the @AmCollSurgeons. With tremendous respect for the project Co-Chairs, Mike McKee and Ron Gross, I could not say no despite the proposed aggressive schedule to HAMMER through the project inside of a year with biweekly meetings, “Are you kidding me!”

There are few published documents that influence care—CHANGE CARE—like ACS Best Practice Guidelines. It was a high honor to be one of two orthopedic surgeons from North America selected for this activity and it was a career highlight. I am thankful to our Chairman and all members for such a growth opportunity. The endorsement of this document from not only ACS but the @otatrauma and Chest Wall Injury Society brings it even closer to home. Congratulations!

Rib fracture fixation can be extremely painful. Cryo Nerve Block can be a powerful pain management tool to help patients recover long after they’ve left the hospital.
🔎 What lies beneath the costal margin?
This cadaveric study maps 7th–9th intercostal nerve variability, highlighting key branches to the diaphragm & abdominal wall.

Hi, ER Doc here.
Everyone needs to know that taking too much Tylenol can cause liver failure and DEATH. I have seen too many people unintentionally overdose. Do NOT take more than 4 grams in one day. That’s only 8 extra strength pills! Please tell all your friends about this.
