When I married in 1969, I couldn't have credit in my name or buy a car on my own. If we had divorced, I wouldn't had a credit history. That happened to many women.

@realNHGal @Minervasbard Some, not all, and I'm not sure most. Even if they did, many women worked part time selling Avon, doing child care, taking in laundry, baking, etc. It was so important to my mom that she had $ of her own. Imagine having to ask your husband for an allowance.

Sometimes I think Republicans must laugh like crazy in private about Democrats tolerating the electoral college, which means they win the popular vote by a mile but still have a scrum over who wins the election. It's time for us to change that & have a fair system

@snowball1926 I'm in your same age group. My experiences were different than yours. We knew the girls who got pregnant because they suddenly went to a "private school" for a while. They returned months later. There were girls who, desperate to end the pregnancy, tried all kinds of stuff.
