The employees do own the stock. Thousands of SpaceX employees became millionaires from the IPO. And this is similar to most companies where employees are able to build generational wealth through company ownership. You can judge people for how they choose to spend their money, but you can’t deny that the opportunities to own great companies don’t exist without the individual who takes the risk to start it.

The focus of my argument is not on SJP or whatever organization conducted this. Let’s focus on my main point: students peacefully protesting and disrupting events to spread their message is protected under first amendment rights and is a net-good for a free society. It’s how change occurs, and it’s one of the most pro-American things one can do to push for change. Whether you disagree with the message or not is irrelevant to the fact that these demonstrations of protest are powerful as they peacefully disrupt an event with an influential decision maker.

my claim is not about this particular organization. i’m saying that in general, protest in the form of peaceful disruption is a major factor that causes change. this has always been obvious in hindsight (like in the case of free speech movement) but is not when it’s actually happening.

You realize that many of the largest movements that enacted change started by students protesting at college campuses right? For example, the 1964 Free Speech movement that started at UC Berkeley where students protested university bans on political activities. The very act of disruption at these colleges are what cause change.

@droidbuilds Go is good for APIs but how is it fast like C? It has a garbage collector so it will inherently be slower for systems work. The programming language you describe doesn’t exist, Rust may be close but you’re not going to typically build APIs with it.

@BretWeinstein The only way you can do this effectively is if you already are excellent at writing code by hand. The only way you can become excellent at that is by doing it without AI assistance. Never underestimate fundamentals and understanding of first principles.
