Update: Despite the timely delivery of polling materials and the presence of election officials, voters had not started turning up by early morning at Mweena Playground polling station in Kalangala Town Council, Kalangala District.
This low turnout was also observed at most other polling stations across the town council. Eugiene Kiratiire, one of the first voters at Kizzi Playground polling station, attributed the low turnout to frustrations from the recent presidential and parliamentary elections.
Another voter, Aron Kataayi, said the low turnout was due to the absence of mobilizers, unlike during the previous elections.
