Interesting chart from our cover briefing today. 'Voters are, on paper, less socialist than a few years ago. After jumping to a peak of 5% in 2018-21, the share of Americans who described themselves as “extremely liberal” has fallen to 3.4%' https://t.co/SyqqL1C5o5
NEW: Kalshi sent this letter (I obtained today) to key Democrats responding to concerns about underage usage and problematic trading, noting that its average age for active traders is 31 and that the median deposit for 18-20-year-olds is $25.
Josh Barro on Platner:
“Graham Platner doesn’t work for a living. As The New York Times reports, the bulk of his income comes from a military disability pension of approximately $60,000 a year. The pension doesn’t mean he’s too disabled to work — he is, after all, currently seeking the job of U.S. Senator — but his recent non-campaign endeavors seem more like hobbies than a career. He runs an oyster farm that principally sells oysters to his mother’s restaurant. He earned a small stipend as his town’s harbor master: $3,000 last year. He lives in a $205,000 house that he bought with a $200,000 loan from his father.”
What a resume.
Polymarket has sued the State of Minnesota over its legislative ban of certain event-contract markets, including those involving sporting events. This is lawsuit #3, joining Kalshi and the CFTC. Case assigned to the same judge (Menendez) overseeing the other 2 cases.

George Santos called me after my story revealing federal investigations into his suspected market manipulation on Kalshi.
And he said: "This story is going to get you a gun in your face."
Then he lied about it.

Connecticut wants to dismiss a @CFTC lawsuit that seeks to stop the state from regulating prediction markets. CT says CFTC is protecting "speculation predators" and the case is "utterly wrongheaded." CT notes that CFTC "made an about-face" under Trump, to support the industry.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), a Platner ally, calls his behavior in The New York Times story "wrong" and "toxic" but says Graham Platner has sought redemption and acknowledged his mistakes.

🔵 Sen. Shaheen: Allegations against Platner are "troubling," but says Maine voters should decide.
🔵 Sen. Whitehouse: Allegations against Platner are "a lot of nothing."
Fox News: President Trump says Hunter Biden could possibly mount a successful White House bid in 2028
Trump: "Hey, if the guy [Platner] from Maine can do well, I guess Hunter could do well, too, because the guy from Maine is a basket case".

My instinct tells me Spencer Pratt gets locked out of the LA mayors race while Republicans in the California governor jungle primary narrowly avoid a lockout.
