The RCMP have ended the emergency alert in Tumbler Ridge. Police do not believe there are any outstanding suspects or ongoing threat to the public.
Today’s devastating events are sending shockwaves through the community and the entire province. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Tumbler Ridge community.
I would to thank RCMP and first responders for their immediate and courageous response.
We will deploy every resource to support the investigation and the people of Tumbler Ridge.

Our hearts are in Tumbler Ridge tonight with the families of those who have lost loved ones.
Government will ensure every possible support for community members in the coming days, as we all try to come to terms with this unimaginable tragedy.
8 years ago yesterday, John Horgan was sworn in as B.C.’s 36th Premier.
Thinking of Ellie, Nate, and Evan - and of everything John gave to this province. 🧡
All meetings and appointments at my Constituency Office are cancelled for the day due to a security incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning. Thankfully, nobody was injured, but incidents like this can be quite frightening. (1/3)
🇨🇦 Today, we proudly fly our Canadian flag over the BC Legislature. Standing strong against unjustified U.S. tariffs that threaten our industries and workers. 🇨🇦#BCleg#Canada#BCpoli
In response to the American tariffs, I have directed government and crown agencies to exclude US suppliers from any new purchasing or procurement agreements.
It’s just one of the actions we are taking to prioritize Canada first.
🇺🇸 softwood lumber duties hurt our forest sector.
As my first action as BC’s Minister of Forests, I’ve ✍🏾 to 🇨🇦 urging them to step up & prioritize ending these punitive tariffs.
It’s my job to stand up for workers, families, & our 🌲 sector & that’s what I’ll do every day.
Every single day, hardworking men and women in communities all across BC contribute to our forests industry.
I’m honoured to have been appointed by Premier @Dave_Eby as the new Minister of Forests.
I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
It is with great sadness that we have learned about the passing of our dear Ambassador, John Horgan. He brought such positive energy to the Canada-Germany relation, and his kindness will remain in our hearts.
Our deepest condolences to his wife Ellie, and sons, Evan and Nate.
There are no words to describe what John Horgan meant to me.
Little did I know, all those years ago in grade 5, how much that meeting would come to mean.
I will always be most thankful to have known John.
He is simply the best.
Love you Horgan. See you later.
John Horgan believed in the power of public service. He saw it as a privilege, as a way to help others and to make our country better.
He loved British Columbia. As Premier, he had a tenacity, passion, and dedication for his work that very few could match. Through the pandemic, through wildfires and floods — through everything — he led with courage and warmth. He was a true progressive—a leader on climate action, affordable childcare, and Reconciliation. He championed the economy and clean energy, and he advocated for workers. And he always believed that we would get more done if we worked together.
My thoughts are with his wife, Ellie, his two sons, and all those who loved him. I will miss him dearly.
Today, we gathered at Veterans Memorial Park in Langford for a moving Remembrance Day ceremony.
Honoured to lay a wreath alongside WW2 Veteran Darrell Walker on behalf of the Province of BC.
Grateful for the community turnout to remember those who sacrificed so much.
NEW - The BC NDP have formed a majority government in British Columbia. Garry Begg leads by 18 votes with just 21 votes left to count, winning the riding of Surrey-Guildford. This gives the NDP 47 seats. The result could be overturned following a judicial recount. #bcpoli
To the voters of Langford-Highlands, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I am honoured to have earned your trust once again and to continue the tradition of service you expect of your MLA.
Thank you for believing in me – let’s get to work!
